v1.2.0 release
Mitch » Devlog
This update doesn’t add massive new features, but it does change the workflow quite a bit.
Mitch v1.2.0
- Downloaded files and APKs are now stored in Mitch’s local storage rather than in the public Downloads/ folder
- This is good for security, because this means other apps won’t be able to modify APKs before they are installed
- This also allows Mitch to automatically handle storage space. Old downloads are now automatically deleted.
- For now it’s not possible to move files into the public Downloads folder, but this is coming soon.
- APKs are now automatically deleted after installation. There might be an option to change this in the future. But generally, if you really want to get .apk files, you might be better off just using a browser to download itch.io files.
- Library tab has been changed:
- Clicking on a game will now launch it or open it, instead of opening the dropdown menu. (this might not work for downloads from previous versions of Mitch)
- The dropdown menu is now accessed using a “…” button near each game’s title
- The dropdown menu now has icons.
- Download progress bar notification is now more prominent.
- Fix UI glitch when switching to and from the Browse tab.
- Big code changes under the hood, please let me know if you find any bugs.
This new workflow should make Mitch “feel” more like an app store and less like a glorified file downloader.
